MEET ONE OF OUR SPEAKERS: This years Dr. Shannon Spenceley Lethbridge Legacy of Nursing Scholarship Recipient

Nicolle Carr has dedicated her nursing career to compassion, leadership, and advocacy in mental health and addictions. After starting her journey at the University of Calgary, she gained experience in palliative care, medical-surgical nursing, and public health before taking time to raise and homeschool her two daughters. Returning with renewed purpose, Nicolle has since worked in the field of addiction and mental health as a registered nurse, mental health therapist, and in leadership roles supporting a provincial team. A registered nurse, certified in psychiatric and mental health nursing, she holds a Master of Clinical Social Work and is now nearing completion of her Master of Nursing at the University of Lethbridge, with a focus on nursing education, addiction, and mental health. Nicolle’s passion for advancing mental health care and supporting future nurses makes her a true leader in the profession.

Staffed entirely by volunteer nurse practitioners, registered nurses, allied health professionals, and physicians, Camp Everest has welcomed over 600 children since its creation, offering them a place to connect, grow, and thrive.
